TOTAL CPU UTILIZATION CONFIG IN SCOM

We all have this requirement of how to effectively monitor CPU utilization, and today Iam happy to post with the help of  Kevin Holman post about how to use the default Total CPU utilization can be used to monitor.

The alerting from monitor is bit late of 5 minutes, but its effective.

After a lot of testing, I could get the desired alert with the below override values:

I have override the values as per my requirement with 80% threshold.

CPU Queue Length Threshold, if eg. 2 to 3 cores, then it is ignored as the value set is -1.

Interval seconds by default is 900 seconds (15 minutes), my override is for 100 seconds (1.6 minutes)

Number of Samples by default is 3, but my override is for 2 samples.

As per quick calculation, my alert will generate @ 3.2 minutes. i.e interval seconds X No. of samples.
